WHO I AM

I'm Mary,

Allow me to introduce myself.

IMG_0315.jpg

I chose to pursue a degree in Marketing because I wanted a practical way to put my love and natural gifting for communication to work for others. If I can help your business connect with your audience - your solution with their need, your intentions with their understanding - I want to do that.

Since graduating, I have spent time producing teachings and developing training resources. I have worked with social media marketing, blogging, and Search Engine Optimization. I have served as editor for a devotional booklet, regularly produced newsletters, and sat on teams creating a variety of promotional materials.

It is recently that I have begun the official pursuit of making a living as a "copywriter," but I am no stranger to the work.

On a more personal note...

I was born and raised in the USA (specifically Texas, which means I have a deep appreciation for good sweet tea) but I currently live in Denmark with my Danish husband and our son. I spent most of my young adulthood in Brisbane, Australia, holding a variety of roles within the non-profit organization Youth With A Mission. I drink a minimum of 2 cups of coffee per day, pride myself in typing quickly, and color-code almost anything color-codable.

My daily living and decision-making is largely dictated by my belief that everyone is created with inherent value.

Q+A

Q+A: WORKING TOGETHER

WHAT IS A COPYWRITER?

Copywriters are essentially translators between businesses and their intended audiences. They take the time to hammer out professional and persuasive communication so you can focus on the bigger picture of your job without getting hung up on grammatical correctness and whether or not something properly walks the line of "convincing but not pushy."

Any text associated with a business can be penned by a copywriter, although copywriters specialize in any text that is meant to meet a measurable objective (such as creating brand awareness, explaining the benefits of a product, or persuading the audience to take a certain route of action.) Product descriptions, brochures, company newsletters, annual reports, print media (like direct mail or newspaper ads,) digital marketing (like banner ads or promotional emails,) web pages, instruction manuals... If it involves words that need to be chosen with purpose, you want a copywriter on your side. For more examples of different types of media that copywriters can work with, feel free to reference my portfolio.

IS THAT THE SAME AS A CONTENT MARKETER?

The short answer is: No. A copywriter writes with the objective of moving the reader to a certain action, while a content marketer writes with the objective of entertaining an audience. Content marketing is usually bulkier, with less defined goals. Examples include blog posts and some types of newsletters.

While I am primarily marketing myself as a copywriter, I am also available as a content marketer.

WHAT KINDS OF BUSINESSES BENEFIT FROM COPYWRITERS?

Any kind that has an intended audience and something to communicate to them. :)

If you're unsure if hiring a copywriter could be the right thing for your business at this time, I would be happy to open up the conversation with a free consultation to determine whether my services could benefit your business and, if so, in what ways. You are completely free to mull over what we discuss and connect with me again in the timing and capacity you feel is right for your business, if at all.

DO I HAVE TO BE BASED OUT OF THE USA OR DENMARK TO WORK WITH YOU?

Definitely not! The flexible nature of this job allows us to work together regardless of location.

DO YOU WRITE IN OTHER LANGUAGES?

At this time, my services are available exclusively in English.

WILL YOU ALSO PROVIDE THE GRAPHIC DESIGN?

Though I have interned at a graphic design agency, I am not formally trained in graphic design and therefore lay no claim to being a graphic designer. Ideally, you hire a copywriter to work in tandem with a professional graphic designer.

However, if you like what you see in my portfolio and you believe that would be a sufficient level of design work for your company, I am willing and able to create to the extent you see displayed in my projects; all of my projects were both written and designed by myself.

Please note that if you request design services in addition to copywriting services, my prices rise accordingly.

WHAT IS YOUR PRICE STRUCTURE?

This is best discussed within the context of what specific objectives, and subsequent projects, we are looking at undertaking. For a price quote, please email me at letmarywriteit@gmail.com and I would be happy to discuss the details together.
